December 24, 2005: Merry Christmas!

And a few thoughts about blogging daily.

A very merry Christmas to everyone! I hope the holidays will be nice, cozy, warm, fuzzy, friendly and joyful for all of you.

This post marks the end (sorry for using that expression so much lately, but I obviously like it) of my 2005 Christmas Calender Blog Run. I’ve never blogged this frequently before. I’ve always wanted to blog more often—not necessarily every day, but at least a couple of times a week.

Blogging every day hasn’t been too difficult. Just a couple of times I’ve had no idea what I should write about, but there has always been a Flash game or something similar I could link to. I’d probably want my regular blog posts to be of slighty higher average quality, though. There are enough blogs out there that merely post links to other nifty stuff online. This is not to say I’ll stop posting links to things I find cool, but it’ll have to be exceptional in my eyes.

I probably need to jot down ideas for topics or posts as they occur to me and keep them on a list so I have a straw or two to grasp at in times of need. (Okay, bad metaphor.) Backpack (shameful affiliate plug!) is perfect for that kind of thing, alternatively my Moleskine Slash if I’m offline.

The most important thing I’ve discovered, though, is that blogging is fun! I knew this, really, but when you don’t do it often, it gets harder to sit down and write something. So I’ll try to keep it up, and while I won’t post as frequently as every day, I might write every day, using more time on each post—which should be better for you, the audience.

Happy holidays!

Wow, this Backpack thing is cool. Prices are kinda steep, though. :-\ It seems like they should have a text-only subscriber option with, say, 50 pages, 150 reminders, and no disk space for I dunno, $2/month or so. It really doesn’t cost much to store just text.
